Rotterdam has never needed much decoration. Water, concrete, harbour edges, new towers beside old streets and a city that keeps changing shape are enough. The Roffa 1340 Heavy Sweater takes that attitude and reduces it to two things that matter: the local name and the year.

ROFFA sits across the chest with EST 1340 underneath. Both are deliberately turned 180 degrees. It looks wrong for about half a second, then exactly right. No skyline, no bridge graphic and no souvenir treatment. Just Rotterdam, flipped on purpose.

ROFFA, WITHOUT THE POSTCARD

Roffa is Rotterdam in street shorthand. Less official, more local. It belongs to the language of neighbourhoods, night streets, music, sport and the urban culture around the city. This design keeps that feeling stripped back. One name, one date and enough attitude to leave the rest out.

1340 ACTUALLY MEANS SOMETHING

On 7 June 1340, Rotterdam was granted city rights by Count William IV. What followed was centuries of growth from a settlement around the Rotte into a port city constantly rebuilding, expanding and changing. The small EST 1340 line is not decorative history. It points directly to a real moment in the city's story.

FLIPPED ON PURPOSE

The complete graphic is upside down. ROFFA and EST 1340 are both rotated 180 degrees, exactly as intended. The idea is simple: take familiar varsity-style lettering and refuse to let it behave normally. White carries a green print, Athletic Heather gets bright orange, while Black uses a pale turquoise tone for a quieter contrast.

HEAVYWEIGHT ROTTERDAM

The new version moves the graphic onto our 350 g/m² Heavy Sweater base. The oversized unisex fit, dropped shoulders and substantial fleece give it more weight and structure, while the brushed interior keeps it soft. Built for cold platforms, late walks, windy streets and all the other occasions when Rotterdam remembers it is next to a lot of water.

STYLING ADVICE

Keep the rest straightforward. Loose denim, workwear trousers or relaxed cargos work without turning the whole outfit into a Rotterdam theme park. White is clean and sharp, Athletic Heather gives the orange print maximum energy, and Black with pale turquoise is the quieter option. Same city, different volume.
